Week 2 Reflections

Week one sure did seem to fly by! The first day we continued with professional development. We learned how to enter information into GradeQuick, the on-line grading system. We also had time to continue working in our classroom and lesson planning.

It seemed like the first day just flew by. All the students found where they needed to go and the hour long homeroom seemed to work. It was also nice to begin the school year with NO construction. Everything was finished over the summer and we were able to hold an assembly in the new auditorium.

We did find it difficult to make it through six periods of school before having our lunch break. After the first day was over, we (the faculty) suggested that we add a break for students and teachers to use the restroom. It has since been added and has helped a lot.

It didn’t take long to get into the swing of things. We passed out text books on the second day and started into class work. I helped as needed but did not do a lot of the planning for the first week of classes. I did use a good amount of my time observing and preparing everything for my action research. Mr. Ammons and I decided that I would take on more responsibility with the 11th grade classes next week and by the following week I will be doing all the planning and teaching with the 11th graders.
