The first week was easier than I had anticipated. We reported to school on Thursday and were greeted with a staff breakfast. Much of Thursday morning was filled with staff development and meetings. I was impressed with how much we were treated like faculty. We received everything that the faculty member did (including a goodie bag) and we truly treated like we were there. I didn’t realize how crucial the past two years were, until that first day. It is fun know more than someone (the new teachers).
The teachers now have to submit their lesson plans online, I think that is great! However I am not a huge fan of their lesson plans. It might be because I am used to filling out more in-depth lesson plans (ie. Learning Cycle, and Benedum) but I feel that they are missing some key elements. For instance my host teacher and I want to add and introductory activity but there isn’t a great place to include it on the lesson plans, but regardless I feel that CB is moving in the right direction.
From Thursday afternoon on we were given time to prepare our classrooms and work on lesson planning. The days seemed long, but I am sure that will be short lived when the students arrive next Tuesday.
